Tasting Notes:
A golden-hued, opulent wine with intense aromas of dried apricot, candied citrus peel, manuka honey, and subtle spice. The palate is unctuous yet lifted—layered with stone fruit, marmalade, and wildflower honey, balanced by zesty acidity and a long, saline finish.
Wine Style:
A richly textured yet vibrant dessert wine crafted from Petit Manseng, showcasing luscious sweetness balanced by natural acidity and complex botrytis character. “Solaire” refers to the sun—evoking the extended ripening period and noble rot influence essential to the wine’s concentration and aromatic intensity.
Variety & Origin:
100% Petit Manseng—a rare variety in New Zealand—traditionally associated with Jurançon in Southwest France. This wine draws inspiration from the legendary Les Jardins de Babylone by the Dagueneau family. The wines from Jurançon are likened to Bordeaux's Sauternes for their richness, concentration and sweetness-acidity balance.
Vineyard:
Sourced exclusively from a prized BioGro certified organic vineyard in the Waihopai Valley, Marlborough. Low-yielding vines and extended hang time under careful vineyard management encouraged ideal botrytis development.
